Whitney & Brad’s Roche Harbor wedding was special and memorable for so many reasons. Not only because one of sweetest couples in the world got married that day, but because they had a bazillion perfectly planned details, like custom Shoes of Prey bridal shoes in Tiffany blue with their names and wedding date, Seattle Chocolate’s San Juan Sea Salt favors…in Tiffany blue, Serafina candies and argyle groom’s socks with accents of Tiffany blue, bridesmaids and umbrellas in Tiffany blue, well…you get the picture. 😉

And, as if all the amazing details weren’t enough, this was the very first wedding we’ve photographed in which the skies opened up and it literally poured throughout their entire ceremony! These outdoor lovers weren’t phased though – when it seemed clear that it was going to rain, they looked at each other, smiled and shrugged, and said “let’s go for it.” And so we did! Their amazing planner, Lori with Elegant Affairs, and the staff at Roche Harbor rallied and gathered all the umbrellas they could find – including blue and navy ones to match the wedding party and a clear one for Whitney and her dad to walk down the aisle with. Gerald and I both shot the entire ceremony with a camera in one hand and an umbrella in the other. I think the only person without an umbrella was the flower girl, and she was not phased in the least!

It was easily one of the most emotional ceremonies we have ever witnessed – imagine a bride, braving a torrential downpour, rain dripping down her dress, and a little mud collecting at the bottom, her hair getting wispier (or wetter) by the minute, walking down the aisle with her daddy with a huge smile on her face. It was a real-life fairytale and EVERYONE (Gerald and I included) had tears in their eyes – with that much joy around, it was inevitable.

So forgive me for the epicly long blog post, but we just HAD to include a ton of ceremony photos, as well as the photos we took in the forests on San Juan island and on the cliffs out at Lime Kiln Point state park. And of course, the dusk portraits at Roche Harbor Resort. 😉 This wedding really was one for the books!

Whitney and Brad – you know we love you. You are incredible individuals and an amazing couple. Thank you so much for not only asking us to be your photographers, but for inviting us into your lives. We’re so lucky that we get to call you friends!
