I can’t even begin to describe how much fun we had photographing Sarah & Sam’s wedding out at Treehouse Point in Snoqualmie, WA. It was the perfect spot for this outdoor-loving pair, and we had a blast climbing treehouses and braving the cold river waters in order to get the perfect photos for them.
I’m pretty sure that Sarah and Sam’s story is enough to melt anyone’s heart…they met at the age of 14 while away from home on a 3 week summer camp/backpacking adventure, and ever since July 14, 2001, they’ve never looked back. They attended each other’s high school dances, spent four years at the College of the Atlantic in Maine together, scaled mountains in Patagonia, and created numerous memories around the world. They eventually settled back in Seattle, and after an inspiring proposal on Orcas Island (back where their entire adventure had started nearly 10 years ago) they decided it was time to make things official.
Their wedding celebration was personal and intimate, infused with details and memories of their life together so far. Sarah had kept a journal about her & Sam’s relationship, and it served as the inspiration for much of the wedding. Excerpts of her writing were included in their program and her actual journal was on display in their reception. It entertained guests (and hopelessly romantic wedding photographers) all night long. One of my favorite entries was one that she wrote only a few years into their relationship: “This is the sort of book that will never be complete. There will always be pages to add.” It’s a beautiful metaphor for marriage–the wedding is just the beginning of a new chapter, but there are so many pages to add. If there is one thing I am confident of, it is that Sarah and Sam will grow old together. They will continue to add pages to their journal and pass it down to their children, who I know will cherish the stories written there.
Sarah and Sam, it was incredible to witness your marriage, and capture the beginning of the next chapter in your life’s story. We hope that you love your photos, and that they will one day grace the pages of your precious journal as well.
A special thanks to Lisa Chambers of Chambers & Co. for capturing Sarah’s dream and making the day run so smoothly. And a big shout out to one of our newest favorite vendors, Bella Rugosa, who made all of the floral and decor elements of Sarah & Sam’s wedding such a joy to photograph. You ladies are the best!
Each of Sarah & Sam’s Appetizer stations was named after a region that has been a part in their journey. Below is fried cheese at the Patagonia station, where guests could also view photos of the couple and read about their time there. Crab Cakes graced the Maine table, and fresh salmon and halibut caught by Sam’s family was featured on the Pacific Northwest table. Herban Feast did an amazing job preparing each of the appetizers bites, and I know the guests loved and appreciated this personal touch!
An amazing team of wedding professionals worked hard to bring Sarah and Sam’s treehouse wedding dreams to reality: Catering by Herban Feast | Event Planning & Design by Lisa Chambers of Chambers & Company | Florals & Decor by Bella Rugosa | Save The Dates & Etched Wood Invitations by Paper Moxie | Cake by New Renaissance | Music by the Dusty 45s. It was a pleasure working with each and every single one of you and we hope to do so again soon.
